Joshua McWherter, Public Housing Missionary & Church Planter
I was born in Murray, KY to a loving Christian family and was raised as a Pastor’s kid. I came to know the Lord at an early age. I attended college at Wyoming Technical Institute and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Collision and Refinishing with Applied Service Management. I married my wife, Tasha, in 2007 and we have been blessed with 2 precious girls, Kaelyn and Ziley.
The Lord began tugging on my heart that He had quite different plans for my life than the motorcycle trike shop I was working in. I trusted the Lord and He lead me into ministry. I began in 2013 as the College Minister of Locust Grove Baptist Church. I was appointed by Kentucky Baptist Convention and North American Mission Board in 2016 to be a full-time, self-funded missionary in the Appalachian region of Eastern KY.
I am the Resident Missionary of Community Outreach and Evangelism here at Allen Baptist Church. Through this ministry I have been blessed to minister to those living in low-income housing, those in drug and alcohol addiction recovery, and I have even had the privilege to minister to the inmates of the Floyd County jail. I feel the Lord has given me a great compassion for those who are broken and hurting and need the grace, love and mercy of our Savior. I want to teach them redemption that only comes from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Currently I am entering a new calling as the Church Planter and Pastor of The Branch, a new church plant of Allen Baptist Church.
